Das Boot

Wearing: Helmut Lang Jacket | Vintage Dress - Similar | Urban Outfitters Beanie | Steve Madden Booties

Das boot, this boot, the boot. You remember, it started with the infamous Balenciaga buckle boot which we were all like "this is amazing but not worth over 1k." And as usual, brand after brand followed with their own versions and renditions of this burly bad-ass ankle boot. None of them caught my eye and I really didn't think the style seemed fitting. But, I happen to love this pair from Steve Madden (even with the chunk in the bottom half of the boot) - it still has a slimming width making it okay by me. So this is me taking a break from pointy toe heels and tapping into my East Village dweller self.

Denim Checks

Wearing: Current/Elliot Jeans | Marc by Marc Jacobs Shirt | Vintage Blazer - Similar | ASOS Baseball Cap | Alexander Wang Pumps

Denim on denim is never overkill in my opinion, and I think most you can agree. The outfit inspiration behind the above was simply me wanting to bring out the green in the plaid using the green in my new wang pumps. The obvious choice would be all black and probably something leather, but I was feeling rather spunky yesterday (which meant not being afraid of a little color for me). Don't worry though, Sunday I'll be posting an all black outfit again {blarg}.

Brooklyn Shares

Wearing: Reformation Sweatshirt - Similar | F21 Pants | Jennifer Zeuner SnakeBar, Nameplate Necklaces | Leather Cap | Acne Boots | Carrera Sunnies

Yesterday I did the unthinkable (kidding, sort of) and traveled into Brooklyn to visit my favorite vintage factory, Nifty Thrifty. I used my credits - which is all thanks to you guys for signing up (here) - and picked up some pretty great pieces including a Penny Lane like coat and an awesome plaid blazer. Can't wait to share them with you... Speaking of sharing, a few of my friends have been raving about how great Forever21 has been lately, so the other day I checked it out myself. These floral pants and a printed bomber jacket later, I concur. You never know where you'll find great clothes guys (one of my fashion mottos).

BTW: a bunch of you have been commenting about how cold I must be, and you're absolutely right. Just so ya know, I've been wearing a fur/down jacket every single day. I've simply been throwing it off for a quick outfit shot (because obviously what's under is more important). So you're welcome, for freezing my ass off for a little bit everyday in the name of fashion haha.

Dungaree Dressing

Wearing: H&M Blouse | Vintage Overalls - Similar | Theysken's Theory Shoes - Similar

Look mah, no beanie! I've been getting a bunch of comments lately (mainly from my dad) about how I seem to always wear a beanie in my blog pics. Now come on, I definitely do not hate my hair, I actually LOVE it and feel lucky to never really have to worry about it. In the cold seasons however, a beanie A: keep me warm, and B: seems to always complete a layered look or add that perfect edge I constantly seek out. Guess you haters have to suck it up til Spring - oh, and the same goes for sunnies!

Good One

Wearing: REASON Tee | Amarcord Leather Jacket - Similar | Vintage Plaid Pants - Similar | ACNE Booties | Blue&Cream Beanie

The other day I was bopping in and out of my favorite East Village stores when I came across a new one that struck my attention with one of those tee's in the window that combined the Chanel logo and f****. That's where I found this guy, my new CĂ©line Dion shirt {insert ironic giggle}. I kinda love it. It's also been pretty warm out in NYC lately (for winter) so I was glad to be able to wear my favorite leather jacket. Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I've been sick :/ As always, TGIF.

Minimalistic

Wearing: Zara Pants | Aritzia Top | Helmut Lang Jacket | 3.1 Phillip Lim Bag | Gypsum Spike Bracelet | All Saints Beanie

I'm laying in bed right now - slightly burnt and slightly damaged from last night's party/gambling in the Dominican Republic. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining - this has been incredible vacation and it will be hard to leave this perfect weather. By the way, I hear it's snowing in NY (hah). Max (my also burnt boyfriend) says hi too and wants you to know he's killing it at the casino. Here's another outfit post from before I left - I checked out Aritzia recently and I'm very impressed with.

The Yellow Beanie

Wearing: Gypsy Warrior Top | Gypsum Beanie & Skirt | Vintage Boots

Who needs a yellow submarine when you have a yellow beanie? Speaking of beanies, I'm currently in day 3 of my vacation in the Dominican Republic - where it's been 80 degrees and above everyday. So obviously it would be insane to wear a beanie here, right? I've been tapping into my inner girly self and been sporting my luscious locks in their natural way. I've also been wearing a ton of color and cutesy dresses - so unlike me! Funny story, last night at the casino I was stopped mid drink by an adorable Brazilian girl - who is actually one of my followers! So cool and random being noticed in another country (humbling moment for me).

'Tis the Season

Wearing: H&M Pants - Similar | Vintage Cardigan | Alexander Wang Heels (via sample sale) | Ray Ban Sunnies

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can focus on a more important holiday.. one full of presents, pretty lights, and incredible music we for some reason only listen to one month of the year - this should change. I'm currently working on my holiday wish list and want to hear what you guys are asking Santa for this year (I maybe still believe in him)!

Lesson in Layering

Wearing: Vintage Jumpsuit (from Screaming Mimi's) - Similar | Topshop Vest | MinkPink Sweater - Similar | Yigal Azrouel Coat | Schutz Shoes | Heather Belle Co. Infinity Necklace

In this lesson of layering, we focus on simplicity and minimalistic changes. Step 1: a sophisticated vintage black jumpsuit, also very versatile (modern version here). Adding on a chunky knit for added warmth, step 2 calls for casual comfort. In step 3 we are taking this look out and about, needing to spice things up a bit with this structured white leather vest (that can be found in stores and Topshop of H&M trend if you're lucky). Last but not least, it's freaking cold outside so bundle up in your winter coat and throw on a beanie to complete the look. Lesson in layering, complete.

On Abbot Kinney

Wearing: Vintage Dress - Similar | Amarcord Jacket | Rebecca Minkoff Bag - Similar | The2Bandits Cuffs

I've been working with a good friend of mine lately, Michael from the street-style blog On Abbot Kinney, to produce some awesome pics for you guys - so I hope you like it. I'm obsessed with this new Rebecca Minkoff tote I picked up at the sample sale yesterday (and it's still going on so hurry over)! After spotting this UNIF plaid skirt online a few weeks ago, I went on hunt for a version of it (in vintage). I think I hit the nail on the head with this find right? For some reason I just get so much pleasure out of finding the look for less - well who doesn't - but especially finding a contemporary fashion trend in vintage clothing, to me is #winning.
