It's always a nice getaway when venturing into Brooklyn for whatever excuse comes my way. This time it was a visit to the Nifty Thrifty HQ that took me on the L train to Bedford Avenue - the avenue of the oh-so-cool and oh-so-Brooklyn. I had the chance to check out the thousands of pounds worth of vintage clothing Nifty Thrifty has in their archive, and you bet there's an awesome collaboration coming up with us two in the near future. BTW - if you haven't yet, sign up here. I topped of my day with a salted caramel macaroon from an oh-so-brooklyn-cafe Toby's Estate.

Billboards for Brands
I've been deep in thought the past few days... Partly over personal things in my life, and mainly over my blog and the blogging industry. The blogging industry - isn't it crazy we can call it that, an industry? When The New York Times article was published, Who Am I Wearing? Funny You Should Ask, I felt a sense of pride. Look at us, being acknowledged by The Times as major influencers, style beacons, and billboards for brands. I then went on to my daily blog reading and found myself captivated by Leandra's words in her most recent post An Afterthought. In it, the Man Repeller addressed the effect of street style and street style photographers on fashion goers. Do we get dressed for ourselves or the people who are watching us? A question that has always been present, but just recently brought to surface with the evident authority bloggers have on consumers and press. "Street style isn't street-centric anymore, it's a string of calculated outfitting chronicles that every so ofter register somewhat contrived." I like this statement, and hate it because it's mostly true. Reading on to the comment portion of this post, I found something interesting by a girl named Hannah. She commented that it seemed like we were challenging the ideology of "pics or it didn't happen," which is really something that started with the growth of Facebook (in my opinion). I'd like to think this is partly due to something I myself suffer from, FOMO (fear of missing out). But let's call this one FOOMO (fear of others missing out). It's the fear of others missing out on our outfits, our great style, and our potential fame. This is really something we (and I mean I) must get over before it saturates the blogging industry and causes something so organic to become even more of a "business" than it already is. "We love fashion because it provoke an emotion without our knowing, but when you contrive that emotion, the fashion doesn't matter anymore. Being known matters." Let's keep it real guys.

Pretty Woman
Wearing: W118 by Walter Baker Top (enter: weworewhat for 20% off) | LF Skirt | Wolf Circus Bracelet / Rings
When I put on this outfit I immediately though of Pretty Woman. Not in a prostitute turned escort turned lover way, but in a "that first time Julia Roberts tried on something in a department store and looked in the mirror" way. On to the outfit: I can't get enough of this Walter Baker leather panel top - the color is drop-dread and the leather panel front makes it really edgy, which I always love. Walter Baker has done some seriously rebranding lately {W118} and recently launched their e-commerce site. Make sure to use the code weworewhat at checkout for 20% off!

Under Construction
Super excited for tonight because I'm heading to dinner with Nicole Miller herself (along with some of my favorite blogger buds)! I stopped by the NM showroom earlier this week and picked up this really great leather sleeved white denim jacket. Sticking to the black & white theme, I paired the jacket with my new open back dress from Nasty Gal and even newer Cheap Monday booties. How amazing are these shoes - they kind of remind me of something Acne would make - then again, maybe it's because they're both Swedish. DUH. If you like these booties and your a size 9, buy these!

Kid Walker
Counting down the hours til my flight on Friday night to Stockholm - woot woot. So I've randomly been running around this city in my overalls lately. To showroom visits, coffee meetings, and to Trader Joe's.. I've looked to my overalls for comfort and ease. The last time I wore these babies were over a month ago, so I think us reuniting has got me hooked. The mack daddy of overalls however, are these Stella McCartney bad boys (here) as seen on Alexa Chung and Man Repeller (now 60% off)!

SUPER WHAT?

Ah good old Friday, how I long for you. Today was great because of amazing news I received about Stockholm, a great coffee date with the ever cool Craig from Altamira (modelsoffduty), caught up with tech superhero Rebecca Zhou, and got a few great emails regarding future collaborations. Thanks to you guys, my trusty followers, opportunities I never dreamed possible have been coming my way. I really feel like one lucky gal.

ORANGE YOU GLAD
Orange you glad you haven't started Fall shopping yet? Or have you, silly shoppers. I've began my seasonly ritual of scouring the stores for all things pre-fall and fall-esqué. So far, Zara has definitely taken the cake. Topshop has some pretty great collections too, but recently I've seen Zara transform itself into a more sophisticated better quality retailer. They're still producing fast-fashion items that fly off shelves, but the quality is significantly nicer and simply cooler... go see for yourself!

Crosby Street

Sometimes when I'm wearing a onesie/romper/jumper/bib/body/bodysuit/sailorsuit/babygro (you get the picture), I feel like it's riding up my tush - but, that is not the case here. The other day I went to sell a lot of clothing at Buffalo Exchange (and then donated the rest). After receiving a rather large credit I shopped around and found this awesome Maje romper for only $40.00! Designer clothing at a thrifty price - now that's my kind of shop.

Walter Baker Event
Last night was the Walter Baker ECommerse Launch and Resort Collection preview event I hosted at Mister H. I wore a white leather peplum top, and red leather shorts that are both pieces from Walter Baker Resort. It was such a great turnout, and I'm pretty sure everyone enjoyed the "WeWoreWhat" a.k.a a drink named just for me at the event! Get ready because Walter Baker's website (here) is launching in less than 24 hours, and trust me, you will LOVE this stuff guys.

NMRKT : Soaked
Yesterday was a great day. I had a ton of showroom visits and an awesome event to top it all off. Lots of thanks to ODA PR for my new boho chic dress by Ramy Brook. NMRKT has been throwing these Fashion Series parties all summer at the Mondrian Hotel in Soho and now they've taken us up top to the brand new rooftop called Soaked. My besties Kelsey (FashionAce) and Freddy (BluePerk) joined me for cocktails and the best views in all of downtown NYC.
